BRENHAM, Texas (KBTX) - State Sen. Lois Kolkhorst says lawmakers continue addressing local priorities even after the legislative session has wrapped up, with her focus turning to protecting free speech on college campuses and overseeing major projects across her district.

Recently appointed to a new committee on free speech in higher education, Sen. Kolkhorst said the group will review how colleges handle political debates and protect the First Amendment. Kolkhorst said she wants to see Texas campuses become models for open and respectful exchange.
