A man physically fought off an armed robbery attempt in a St. Cloud parking lot Sunday, according to authorities.

The St. Cloud Police Department said officers are now searching for the suspect, who allegedly approached the victim behind from behind, pointed a gun at him and demanded his phone and wallet.

The suspect ran off after being repeatedly kicked by the victim, a 39-year-old Elmore man, according to police.

The incident happened around 6:55 p.m. on the 700 block of Highway 10 South, with the victim approached from behind as he walked back to his hotel room.

According to police, the suspect is described as a Black man in his early 20s with a thin build, short black hair and short mustache. He was wearing a black coat with a hoodie, black shoes and a T-shirt shirt.
