NORTH CAROLINA, USA — Following a request from President Donald Trump, North Carolina's General Assembly will hold votes to redraw their Congressional map in favor of Republicans. Senator Leader Phil Berger's office says he and Speaker Destin Hall will hold votes next week to block what they call Democratic efforts to take control of Congress from Republicans.
In response to Texas redrawing its map to create a five-seat Republican advantage over the summer, California Governor Gavin Newsom said his state will consider redrawing their map in favor of Democrats. That prompted President Donald Trump to call on state lawmakers across the country to help Republicans in Congress by redrawing their own maps.
