ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Hundreds of staffers at the Atlanta-based Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are reportedly back on the job after being fired just before the weekend started.

Of the roughly 1,300 CDC workers who received layoff notices Friday evening, around 700 have found out they’re being reinstated, reports CNN , citing the American Federation of Government Employees, a union that represents federal workers.

A spokesperson for the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), which the CDC is under, told CNN the reinstated employees were mistakenly sent layoff notices because of a coding error.
