The Prince George's County Council is cracking down on illegal house parties. If passed, a bill could cost homeowners and party promoters thousands of dollars in fines for breaking the law.

News4 has been reporting on these rowdy parties that flood neighborhoods with hundreds of people. In July, video showed a house party in Upper Marlboro that neighbors say got out of control, with people spilling into the neighborhood and even urinating on lawns.

Now, the county council is trying a new way to go after homeowners and party promoters: by upping fines to $5,000.

Councilmember Sydney Harrison says the illegal parties have to stop.
