GRAND HAVEN, Mich. —

The Grand Haven Coast Guard Festival is partnering with the Coast Guard Chief Petty Officers Association Grand Haven Chapter (CPOA) to help out Coast Guard members during the government shutdown.

Members up and down the West Michigan coast are working without pay, which is why Executive Director of the Coast Guard Festival Commander Tracy Riley says they want to help out.

“You don't know when you're gonna get paid again. You've got a family. Yeah, it's not, yeah, it's a little stressful,” she said. “So this, this eases that stress, so they can do their jobs for us and support us, like they always do.”

They’re accepting non-perishable donations, from canned vegetables to paper towels. They are also accepting gift cards and monetary donations.
