After 7 years and a business bankruptcy that shook longtime fans, Toys "R" Us has returned to Lubbock, at least for now.

The shop opened for new and old Toys "R" Us kids Monday morning, between Tilly's and Windsor stores at the South Plains Mall, 6002 Slide Road . Shoppers were greeted by the company's iconic giraffe mascot, Geoffrey, and an array of toys and games.

"It's really nostalgic for a lot of people," said Steven Sosa, manager. "Some of the younger ones, they've never been to a Toys "R" Us, so it's a new experience for them. It brings back memories for some of us older fans. It's been really exciting."
