BOSTON — The Bruins ’ undefeated streak came to an end Monday afternoon.
Boston fell 4-3 to the Tampa Bay Lightning in its first matinee game of the season. The Bruins are now 3-1-0 and embark on a three-game road trip beginning Thursday against the Vegas Golden Knights.
A sloppy start for the Bruins led to two goals for the Lightning in the first period.
Charlie McAvoy had his pocket picked in the neutral zone and Anthony Cirelli made it 1-0 just 1:09 into the game.
The Lightning made it 2-0 when Nikita Zadorov put the puck on Jake Guentzel’s stick who passed it over to Cirelli for the 2-0 lead .
The second didn’t start off much better for Boston, but it did get better as time went on. Another turnover in the defensive zone led to Yanni Gourde making it a 3-0 game 39 seconds
