A day after the Mariners went to Toronto off little rest and took Game 1 of the American League Championship Series, Julio Rodríguez gave the M’s a 3-0 lead in Game 2 before recording their first out with one mighty swing.

Rodríguez unloaded on a hanging splitter from Blue Jays right-hander Trey Yesavage, blasting a 369-foot three-run home run into the seats in left field.

Rodríguez’s big hit was the first hit Yesavage has allowed in the postseason. Toronto’s 22-year-old rookie pitched 5 1/3 hitless innings of shutout baseball in the Blue Jays’ AL Division Series Game
