GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) -- Greenville County Council says there are more than two dozen fire districts across the county. Now, county council has approved a study to see if consolidating some of them could improve efficiency - potentially changing how they’re governed, funded, and operated.
A Greenville County Council vote of 8-3 kicked off the fire consolidation study, introduced by Councilman Ennis Fant.
“Anytime you can get an 8-3 on county council, that’s a win," Fant said.
Fant says the study will focus on three goals.
“Improve efficiency and provide better services for the citizens," Fant said. Number two see if we can reduce Property taxes and mileage that they’re charging and thirdly by have everybody with an ISO of one, hopefully we can reduce homeowners' insurance as w
