KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Following the recall of Jackson County Executive Frank White Jr., the Legislature has voted and appointed Phil LeVota as interim county executive.
Prior to LeVota's appointment, former Kansas City Mayor Kay Barnes was the acting Jackson County executive. There were a dozen applicants vying for the position.
On Monday afternoon, the Jackson County Legislature appointed LeVota as interim county executive.
Voters recalled White on Tuesday, Sept. 30. Jackson County voters will elect their next full-term county executive in the November 2026 general election.
