STATE COLLEGE – James Franklin is out, Terry Smith is in as Penn State’s head coach.

Smith, a former PSU player, will be the Nittany Lions’ interim leader for the rest of the regular season.

Prior to Franklin’s dismissal, Smith was regarded as one of the top cornerback coaches in the country.

Smith said Monday that Jordan Lucas, a former Penn State defensive back, will be the Lions’ cornerback coach for the rest of the season.

Lucas previously had been assisting Smith in coaching the team’s corners.

“Jordan Lucas will take that role,” Smith said, referring to coaching the team’s corners. 15
