A woman who was knifed 29 times by her abusive ex and forced to hide in a cupboard with the weapon still lodged in her chest says it was "a big relief" after he died behind bars. ‌

Steven Wood tried to kill Martina Turner, known as Tina, in a brutal attack in her kitchen in May 2021 - but by some miracle she survived. ‌

The mum of three managed to escape from the terrifying attack by hiding in a cupboard where she used her phone to call for help, even with a knife still lodged in her chest. ‌

Emergency services saved her life and arrested Wood, who was jailed for a minimum of 12 years in prison.

Wood, who was incarcerated at HMP Frankland, passed away last week, the Mirror reports.
