The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 4:35 p.m. on Monday for heavy rain and flooding until 6 p.m. for Bristol County.

“At 4:30 p.m., a band of heavy rain with embedded thunderstorms trailed from Westport to Scituate, and was moving northwest at 55 mph. Rainfall rates within this rain band have been as much as 1 inch per hour,” explains the weather service. “Minimal. Water on roads that flood easily or that do not drain well.”

Locations impacted by the alert include Providence, Warwick, Cranston, Pawtucket, East Providence, Coventry, Cumberland, North Providence, West Warwick, Johnston, North Kingstown, Attleboro, Smithfield, Lincoln, Central Falls, Seekonk, East Greenwich, North Smithfield, Scituate and West Greenwich.
