UPDATED with latest: About 115 residences in the Malibu and Pacific Palisades in the Palisades Fire burn scar area are under mandatory evacuation orders as the season’s first major storm hits the Southland, the Los Angeles Fire Department said Tuesday morning.

Expected to last into Tuesday afternoon, the storm likely will produce between three-quarters to 1.5 inches of rain across most areas, with 2 to 4 inches possible on south-facing mountain slopes, according to the National Weather Service. Forecasters said as much as 5 inches could fall in the San Gabriel Mountains.
