LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Monday was a day of celebration and relief for many in the Louisville area. Following the years-long war between Israel and Hamas, all living hostages held by Hamas are now back in Israel. On the other hand, Israel has also started releasing more than 200 Palestinian prisoners.

“It’s just an exciting time,” Rabbi Avrohom Litvin, regional director of Chabad of Kentucky, said.

The rabbi said it’s been a difficult two years for the Jewish community following the October 7, 2023 attacks. More than 1,200 Israelis and around 70,000 Palestinians have lost their lives since the war between Israel and Hamas erupted.
