CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) -- The Champaign Police Department responded to a report of shots fired Sunday evening; once on the scene, officers found evidence of gunfire. Now, the police department is asking for anyone with more information to contact them.
Officers responded near the intersection of E. Vine and N. 4th Streets around 9:30 p.m. A 911 call indicated that shots had been fired in the area. Once police arrived, they found shell casings. But, the subjects who fired the shots fled before officers arrived, police added.
As of Monday evening, police are still working to figure out why the shots were fired. No injuries or property damage have been reported.
