JACKSON COUNTY, Miss. (WLOX) - If you drive around Jackson County, new home construction is readily visible. Homes and subdivisions are popping up throughout the county, and more are on the way.
“We’re averaging between four and five hundred new permits throughout the county, probably for five years running,” said Marcus Catchot, Jackson County Planning Director.
10 different subdivisions in various stages of development will be discussed at Wednesday’s Planning Commission meeting.
Catchot said the west side of the county, including Latimer and St. Martin, is seeing quick growth.
With land filling up, developers are exploring other parts of the county.
