STATE COLLEGE – The Northwestern loss was James Franklin’s last Penn State game.
It was also the unfortunate end to Penn State quarterback Drew Allar’s career.
Franklin, fired Sunday by Penn State AD Pat Kraft, confirmed shortly after the Nittany Lions’ upset 22-21 loss to the Wildcats that Allar, a fourth-year senior, was done for the season after suffering an apparent leg injury.
Early in Kraft’s Monday news conference to elaborate on his decision to move on from Franklin and other pressing matters, referred to Penn State’s athletes as his “kids”.
At one point, Kraft even said: “You guys know I call our athletes my kids.” 15
