Indian hospitality is experiencing growth driven by changing consumer behavior, with domestic travel, premium stays, and short leisure getaways shaping revenue and financial strategies, according to Nikhil Sharma, Managing Director & COO, South Asia, Radisson Hotel Group (RHG).

Domestic tourism remains the backbone of the sector, with domestic air passenger traffic reaching 152 million in 2024 — nearly 20% above pre-pandemic levels — while international visitor spending hit a record ₹3.1 trillion, the World Travel & Tourism Council reports.

Short leisure breaks and drive-to destinations, including Karjat, Lonavala, Shimla, Mussoorie, and Saputara, now account for a growing share of weekend occupancy.
