STATEWIDE -- With folks starting to think about holiday shopping, every cent counts. And this week, gas prices have dropped a little.
The average price of a gallon of gas in Maine has fallen 2.4 cents in the last week, averaging $3.03 a gallon as of Monday.
According to GasBuddy's survey of more than 1200 stations around the state, prices in Maine are 9.4 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and 7 cents a gallon cheaper than a year ago.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy, said, "Americans appear to be on the cusp of seeing the national average drop below $3 per gallon for the first time in years, as prices have fallen across the vast majority of the country...In addition, with wages up and gas prices down, Americans are spending the smallest share of their paych
