The StoneGate project in North Valleys pushes on after the Truckee Meadows Regional Planning Governing Board reversed the regional planning commission’s denial on Thursday, Oct. 9.

"The regional planning commission overstepped what the rules are," Sparks councilmember Dian VanderWell, chair of the governing board, said.

Truckee Meadows Regional Planning Agency Director Jeremy Smith told the RGJ that with the governing board’s reversal, the zoning change has been approved at the regional level.

However, nothing can be built until the developer, Heinz Ranch Land Co., takes the next step, which requires going through the city of Reno's processes of building and construction permitting.
