GRAND FORKS – The Grand Forks City Council on Monday gave preliminary approval to a 2026 Community Development Block Grant Program budget that includes $400,000 for Spectra Health, making the clinic the only recipient for the 2026 recommendations.

The budget, which will be heard again at the next City Council meeting on Oct. 20 and during a public hearing on Dec. 1, will be used to create a centralized patient check-in and waiting area on the first floor of the facility, according to Ryan Brooks, the city’s director of planning and community development.

“They’ve really transformed the building, and this improvement will really go a long ways, I think, to patient experience there as well,” he said.

Spectra Health is located at 212 S. Fourth St., in the former Deaconess Hospital building
