Yankee Stadium will see more playoff action this fall, just not for the Bronx Bombers.

New York City FC announced on Monday that it “intends to host home matches at Yankee Stadium” during the 2025 MLS Cup Playoffs, marking the first time in four years that the MLS club has hosted playoff matches in the Bronx.

The announcement came less than a week after the Yankees were eliminated from the postseason, opening up Yankee Stadium for NYCFC, which splits its home games between the Bronx Ballpark and Citi Field. 3

NYCFC has not hosted a home playoff match at Yankee Stadium since 2021, when they defeated Atlanta United 2-0 in the first round en route to the club’s first MLS Cup title.
