There was a time when Travis Fiser put the man known as The Smashing Machine out of order.

The date was Dec. 29, 1991, the occasion was the Midlands Wrestling Championships, and the site was Welsh-Ryan Arena in Evanston, Illinois.

Competing for the University of Iowa, Fiser earned a 6-4 overtime victory over Syracuse’s Mark Kerr in the semifinals of the 190-pound weight class.
