FAIRHOPE, Ala. (WKRG) — A critically acclaimed author is set to speak at the Fairhope Public Library.

Patricia McCormick will visit the library on Thursday, Oct. 16, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to discuss the importance of libraries.

McCormick is a two-time National Book Award finalist and has received fellowships with the New York Foundation on the Arts, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and the MacDowell Center.

She is well-known for her novels like "Never Fall Down," a non-fiction story about a boy who survived the Killing Fields of Cambodia.

"SOLD," a fictional account of sex trafficking in Nepal, was later made into a movie of the same title. In 2024, it was considered to be one of the most challenged books in the country.
