CALVERT, Texas — Multiple fire departments helped battle a blaze that cost a cotton farmer two combines on Oct. 13, according to the Bremond Volunteer Fire Department.

According to Bremond VFD, firefighters responded to a large fire west of Calvert. The Calvert Volunteer Fire Department was reportedly the first on the scene, and called for mutual aid.

Bremond VFD said the plume of smoke could be seen from Highway 6 as their trucks entered onto the highway. The Hearne Volunteer Fire Department and Franklin Volunteer Fire Department also reportedly assisted in fighting the fire and in bringing water.

The cotton farmer lost two combines in the fire, but was able to save all of their harvested cotton bales, said Bremond VFD.
