YORK, Pa. — Pennsylvania leaders and supporters of both Israel and Palestine are reacting to the end of the conflict in Gaza, which has divided the nation and world for the past two years and left tens of thousands of Palestinians dead, including many civilians.

Pennsylvania Jewish Coalition Chair Jonathan Goldman called the ceasefire and return of the remaining Israeli hostages a major step toward peace, which he hopes will open the door to long-term coexistence.

“This is an amazing first step and what we hope is a new journey,” Goldman said. “They want a potential partner they can negotiate with who does not want to demolish their country from the river to the sea, but somebody who wants to live in peace as neighbors. That’s what Jews want, and that’s what we’re hopeful for.”
