MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) -The first day of the John Nolen Drive Reconstruction Project is in the books.

With lane reductions on John Nolen Drive, Assistant City Engineer Chris Petykowski reminded drivers to plan accordingly as traffic built up during rush hour.

“So far so good. I was looking at it on the cameras,” said Petykowski. “Definitely plan a little extra time, be vigilant when you are going through there because things can change and the way the traffic control is set up right now might be a little different day to day.”

Around 45,000 travelers use John Nolen Drive each day, according to the City of Madison.

Petykowski said that drivers should plan to use alternate routes as well, and the city is working to keep those routes open while the project is underway.
