Tulsa native Katherine Anderson was the only woman who signed up for the 2025 Arkansas High Country Race, and she became the 11th woman ever to finish it.

The Arkansas High Country Race covers a total distance of 1,015 miles and a cumulative elevation gain of over 75,000 feet and takes riders through the Ozark National Forest in the north and the rugged Ouachita National Forest in the south.

The race allows riders to stop, eat and rest along the way.

“A lot of times you are sleeping outside,” said Anderson. “I slept in a carwash one night at Shelby’s Cafe in Hatfield and a campground another night.”

Anderson finished the race with an official time of eight days, five hours and 55 minutes.
