TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU) - A pedestrian is dead after being hit by a school bus on Monday afternoon just north of West Lafayette.

According to police, the pedestrian was walking across State Road 43 near the Speedway and Phillips 66 gas stations around 1:30 p.m. when he or she was hit by a school bus that was traveling north in the left lane.

The pedestrian died at the scene. Their name has not been released.

No other injuries were reported. Police say there were no students on the Tippecanoe School Corporation bus at the time of the crash.
