Around 7 p.m., Amador Fire responded to Aqueduct Grove Road and Highway 88 in Pine Grove for a head-on collision. When crews arrived at the scene, they found two vehicles involved. There were also two patients who both had major injuries.

According to Amador Fire, both people were trapped in their vehicles and had to be extricated. One person was pronounced dead at the scene. The other was transported to a local hospital.

Officials said there is a hard closure on Highway 88 with no estimated time of reopening.
