SUNNYSIDE, Wash. - The apple and timber industries in Washington are set to receive a significant boost this year.

Governor Bob Ferguson announced $700,000 in state funds along with three private investments totaling $102 million.

The governor directed $700,000 to support three economic development investments.

One of these is in Sunnyside, where the Yakima County Development Association will receive $250,000.

This funding is aimed at improving site readiness for a new Apple Products processing plant.

The new plant, by Manzana Products, will focus on producing organic juices, sauces and cider vinegar.

Governor Ferguson's Economic Development Strategic Reserve Fund is behind these awards, which are expected to create at least 270 new jobs in the region.
