HOWLAND — The Howland and Struthers volleyball teams had one last tuneup before their tournaments begin on Thursday. And it was Howland who claimed straight sets to end the regular season with a win.

The Tigers won 25-15, 25-18, 25-11 on Tuesday at Howland High School.

“Everything tonight was a challenge to prepare for our tournament matches coming up,” Howland head coach Amanda Florek said. “That was kinda what was posed to them, and we were trying some things that we could step back and use come tournament time. I’m just happy with what they put together.”

After the teams traded a point to start the match, the Tigers (13-9) recorded four straight points to take a 5-1 lead. That multi-point advantage continued to slowly grow over the course of the first set, and an ace by Maya Kubancse
