That was the case Monday at Troy Athens.
The host Red Hawks, one of the most prestigious high school programs in Michigan history with seven state championships along with a massive line of conference, district and regional titles in its storied lore, pulled away from Warren Mott in a Division 1 district semifinals clash with an 8-0 victory.
Athens will face Sterling Heights Stevenson, 4-2 upset winners over Warren Cousino Monday in the first district semifinals match, at 7 p.m. Wednesday for the district championship on the Red Hawks’ home field.
