Western Australia has experienced its worst flu season on record, with more than 30,000 influenza cases reported this year.
That's almost double the number of flu cases recorded in 2024, when 17,117 cases were reported to health authorities.
It's also the longest flu season WA has experienced — with more cases recorded already this month than any other October since the federal health department began publishing records in 2001.
The previous record was in 2019 with almost 22,000 influenza cases reported.
WA is also falling behind the national average for influenza vaccinations.
