EL CENTRO — Families flocked to the local watering hole Saturday, October 11, for the Annual Floating Pumpkin Patch. Similar to bobbing for apples, children from all over the Imperial Valley cannonballed into the various pools at the El Centro Aquatic Center for their chance to swipe a pumpkin. Just like the hundreds of families that attended, the pumpkins came in all shapes and sizes, waiting to be selected one by one. The pools were emptied just as quickly as they were filled with orange floating pumpkins.

Aquatic Supervisor Rebecca Mitchell said this year’s kick-off to the fall season brought in 13 pallets of pumpkins, just a little under 800. This year’s sea of orange had about 50-75 more pumpkins than last year’s event. However, even more pumpkins will make the journey to the Aquatic
