The Newark resident has long looked to ensure her daughter, Brigitte , who has cerebral palsy, has access to the community around her. Sometimes, doing that requires space for an accessible van with a ramp, which presents its own challenges.

“You can’t park in any accessible spot,” Hancharick said. “You need the access aisle next to you.”
