Chetan Bhagat, the Indian author, was a full-time investment banker before he developed his interest in writing, and further became a published author and lived the Bollywood dream with his books being adapted as Hindi movies such as 3-Idiots, Half Girlfriend, and Two States. In a podcast with Colonel Shivender Kanwar and Vihan Singh, Bhagat recently opened up about losing passion for his banking career and how he resigned a day after getting a hefty bonus in 2008.

Reflecting on the mindset to leave a million-dollar job for passion, the 51-year-old revealed that the last bonus he received was a million dollars in 2008, in cash, excluding the salary. “I resigned from this job to sell books. That’s not easy,” he said.
