Navy leaders were worried about the political implications if journalists or others found out about an alleged serial sexual offender known as Officer X, according to records obtained by the Ottawa Citizen.

The discussion among the senior leaders was sparked by an April 3, 2023 email from navy Lt. Patrick White who had been trying to warn about the actions of man who is referred to in some internal military records only as “Officer X.”

White’s email, addressed to Commodore Pat Montgomery was titled “Potential Child Vulnerability – History of Sexual Misconduct by Naval Reserve Officer.”
