The India Meteorological Department on Tuesday said that rainfall activity is set to intensify over parts of southern India, even as conditions become favourable for the further withdrawal of the southwest monsoon from the remaining parts of the country over the next two days. Simultaneously, easterly and northeasterly winds are expected to establish over the southern peninsula and the south and adjoining central Bay of Bengal, paving the way for the onset of the Northeast Monsoon during the same period.
