A Bharatiya Janata Party worker in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district was killed allegedly by Maoists who accused him of being a police informer , PTI reported on Tuesday.

Satyam Punem, a resident of Mujalkanker under the Ilmidi police station limits, was reportedly strangled to death on Monday night, an unidentified police official told the news agency.

A handwritten pamphlet found at the spot, issued by the Maoists’ Madded area committee, claimed that Punem had been acting as a police informer.

The pamphlet said that he continued to help the police despite receiving three warnings from the outfit, the police were quoted as saying.
