A thirty year row between two neighbours over 40ft trees is to be settled by the government. ‌

James and Fiona Campbell insist their lives are being made a misery by a hedge owned by Eamonn O'Connell and Brenda Holohan. ‌

The trees separate their rural properties near the village of Kemnay, Aberdeenshire. ‌

The Campbells' claim the trees cause a 'substantial barrier' to light reaching their home and garden.

They had turned to Aberdeenshire Council under high hedge laws in a bid to have them lopped.

But they were left frustrated when officials declined to issue a high hedge notice and said the trees could stay. ‌

The Campbells' have now appealed the ruling to the Scottish government.
