Veteran Malawian gospel musician Lloyd Phiri has shared a heartfelt account of his life, career, and personal journey on his Facebook page.
Phiri, 45, revealed that he was born again in 1997 at the age of 17, and released his first album in 1999. His debut song, “Afuna Ulape,” quickly became a nationwide hit, topping the MBC Entertainers of the Year chart. Since then, he has released seven studio albums, two of which were recorded live on stage.
Family Life: Phiri married in 2006, but the marriage ended in 2012/2013. He is father to a son, Junior, from that marriage. For the next nine years, he focused on prayer, personal reflection, and helping others in the studio, rather than releasing his own albums or organizing shows.
In 2022, Phiri remarried Elinat Phiri, with the wedding taking
