Property taxes have become a political lightning rod in Ohio, but few voters realize what’s truly at stake if these taxes are abolished. In Monday’s episode of Today in Ohio, hosts laid out the catastrophic threat facing beloved community institutions.

The numbers are staggering. As Leila Atassi explained, “The Metroparks get about 60% of their $177 million budget from them, while the Cuyahoga County Public Library relies on property taxes for nearly 70% of its funding ... If Ohio voters were to approve that proposed constitutional amendment abolishing property taxes altogether, these institutions would lose well over half their income overnight.”
