PORTLAND, Maine — Democratic Maine Governor Janet Mills officially launched her campaign Tuesday for the U.S. Senate seat held by Republican Susan Collins since 1997.

“My life’s work has prepared me for this fight, and I’m ready to win,” Mills said in a two-minute launch video posted online . NEWS CENTER Maine confirmed her plans last week .

The announcement video was heavier on criticism of President Donald Trump than Collins. It mentions Trump by name six times and Collins three times.

Mills invoked her father, who told her as a girl, “You can’t let bullies have their way, or they’ll never stop.”
