Haryana Police Faces Turmoil as Another Officer Dies by Suicide
In a shocking development, Sandeep Kumar, an Assistant Sub-Inspector in Rohtak's cyber cell, has allegedly died by suicide, just days after the controversial death of IPS officer Y Puran Kumar. Sandeep's death on Tuesday has raised serious concerns, as he left behind a video message and a note accusing Y Puran Kumar of corruption.
In the six-minute video, Sandeep described Y Puran Kumar as a "corrupt cop" who feared exposure of his alleged wrongdoings. He claimed that after being posted in the Rohtak range, Kumar replaced honest officers with corrupt ones, leading to a toxic environment where petitioners were mentally tortured for money and women police personnel faced sexual exploitation for transfers.
Sandeep also expressed support for former Rohtak SP Narendra Bijarniya, who is named in the FIR related to Y Puran Kumar's death. This incident coincides with calls from Lok Sabha Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi for immediate action against the officers implicated in Y Puran Kumar's suicide note. Gandhi highlighted the systemic discrimination faced by Kumar, which he claimed was intended to demoralise him.
Y Puran Kumar, a 2001-batch IPS officer, was found dead on October 7, with a suicide note accusing eight senior officers of caste-based discrimination and harassment. Following his death, an FIR was registered against those named in his note, and a special investigative team has been formed to look into the matter.
Sandeep's suicide adds a troubling layer to the ongoing investigation into Y Puran Kumar's death, as he had been involved in the arrest of Sushil Kumar, a close aide of Y Puran Kumar, just before his own death. Sandeep's note demanded a thorough investigation into the assets of Y Puran Kumar and his family, further complicating the case.
The Haryana Police is now under scrutiny as it grapples with these serious allegations and the tragic loss of two officers in quick succession.
