New Delhi, Oct 14: The Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana (PMSGY) has installed 4,946MW of residential rooftop solar capacity across India, according to a report by the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA) and JMK Research & Analytics.

The scheme, launched in February 2024, aims to provide free electricity to households by subsidising the installation of rooftop solar panels.

The report shows that subsidy disbursements for rooftop solar have crossed Rs 9,280 crore. Gujarat leads all states with the highest installed residential rooftop solar capacity of 1,491MW, followed by Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, and Rajasthan.
