WACO, Texas — The Hispanic Heritage Month showcase features students from preschool through fifth grade dressed as everyone from music legend Selena to civil rights activist Dolores Huerta. When visitors approach, the students "come to life," presenting research they've compiled over the past month.
"I'm excited to show people what he did for the world to make it a better place," said third grader Alejandro about Dr. C. David Molina.
The event allows children to embody the figures they've studied, complete with costumes, props and carefully rehearsed presentations.
"She was a fashion icon. I really like her songs," said second grader Mariana about Selena Quintanilla-Pérez.
