Puri: In a significant move to strengthen security, the security sub-committee of Shree Jagannath Temple has put a complete ban on the use of mobile phones within the shrine premises in Odisha’s Puri.
Even police personnel and servitors will not be allowed to carry mobile phones inside the 12th century shrine. ADVERTISEMENT
The announcement was made by sub-committee chairman, Girish Chandra Murmu, after a detailed security review meeting.
Discussions focused on both internal and external safety of the temple, which attracts lakhs of devotees from across the country and abroad every year.
In order to ensure uninterrupted communication without compromising on security, walkie-talkie devices will soon be introduced for authorised personnel.
